Cicci o Nour

Michael Wood

Yesterday I where in Borgholm to shoot some pictures at Michael Wood, USA´s ambassador to Sweden. He was attending a press conference about electrical cars, alternative energy and the ticking climatebomb. He spoked very vivid about this and I thought that the clock at the wall was saying just that, that the environment-clock is ticking-FAST. So I placed myself in line with Mr Wood between me and the clock. With Wood out of focus the reader wood concentrate on the fact that we must do something now. How Michael looks they would see on a additional picture.
But no! The editor/reporter (on this paper the reporters edit there own pages) didn´t want to use the picture because the man was out of focus. It´s just sad, I think. Do I sound bitter again?

I dont tell the writing journalist how to do their jobs, why should they decide wich picture to run in the paper? Why is this so common in smaller market newspapers? Anyone?

Vertigo

Ulf looks down as the wind rocks the small platform that we
are standing on.

Ulf Tideman, Skanska, mounting one of the 24 karat gold crowns
60 meters above the palace yard at the Castle of Kalmar.

Today I have some severe muscle soreness. In just one of my thighs! Why? Yesterday I went up I dont know how many stairs to photograph Ulf Tideman mounting one of the golden crowns on top of The Caslte of Kalmar. 197 feet above the palace yard, thats 60 meters. Oh yeah, it wobbled quite a bit up there.

Well, we went up in an elevator half the way up, but still, there was a few stairs to, I promise...

As I said before, 60 meters on the outside of the tower the wind rocked the aluminium working plattform we stood on, the snow whipped our faces. My collegue, who stayed on a plattform halv the way up, was really small down there. I had fever when I went up so I became windy allmost immediate and maybe the fever caused the muscle soreness?

Untrained? No, how could that be the case, I was once jogging like one kilometer...hmf.

If I´ve knowned that we were going up the tower I would brought me my 10-22mm along with me, but it´s easy to be afterwise. Isn´t it?

By the way! If you have not allready seen it, check out Magnum´s multimedia-piece about wars.
Watch it here.

Bye for now, time for some sleep.

Multimediashooter uppe igen

Kolla in videon HÄR!

Perrelli ready for Belgrad

Charlotte Perrelli sings "HERO" on the stage in Telenor Arena,
Karlskrona. I didn´t use this pic in the paper due to the omnibounce

at the lower part of the picture.

Charlotte Perrelli won the swedish Eurovision Song Contest with her song HERO. It´s has a powerful discotheme and I think it can hit Europe and maybe place itself and Charlotte top 10 in the ESC final in Belgrad this spring. We´ll see about that.

Whatsoever, I´m feeling a bit better now, regarding the illness. (been a bit chesty) On monday I have a meeting that could be exiting. And an commercial assignment for Danish Crown. So I need to get well before that. OK, thats all for now, bye.

Springtime!

Now it's here! The spring is here, to stay I hope. I've been sick for a whole week, just sleeping and sneezing my brain out...Yesterday I did a few jobs anyway, but I was soooo tired! But today the sun is warmin my face and I'm drinking a good quality beer on the porch!!

Tack !

Tack,

Karl Melander took the Picture of the Year

Foto: Karl Melander

The jury of the 65´th Swedish POY selected Karl Melander´s picture of Cosan´s ethanol factoy outside Sao Paulo, Brazil, to win the title Picture of the Year in Sweden. Karl also won the first prize in the category "Sport Feature" for his reportage about the female boxer Namibia Flores Rodriguez. The whole list of winners can you find here.

Berns Salonger, Stockholm

For the title "Photographer of the Year" the jury chosed Åke Ericsson, a good choise I think. He also won first prize in the category "Deeper Meening" and also the first prize in "Foreign Reportage". He had a busy year, it seems like.

The banquette after the award-ceremony was held at Berns Salonger in Stockholm. Nice people, nice food and a lot of nice clothing...
HERE you can see me (at left) and Sydsvenskans photographer Lars Dareberg posing for the magazine Kamera&Bild´s editor-in-chief Göran Segeholm´s camera. Do we look good?

By the way, here´s the jury.

POY

I´m bringing my new bible with me to Stockholm.
Almost 6.5 Lb (2,9 kg)of good photojournalism.
So if the party sucks, I´m still up for a good time...

The Swedish POY that is. Tomorrow it´s time for our swedish Picture Of the Year, "Årets Bild", so I´m off to Stockholm, by car. No flight suited my timetable. But it´s not that far, five ours drive and I´m there. On friday it´s time for the award-ceremony and after that the banquette, nice.
After saturdays breakfast I´m heading back to Berns for the highlight of the weekend, Carolyn Cole´s lecture !!

A week ago I bought the very heavy book "In our Time" wiht photographs by the Magnum photographers. But because I´ve been away for work and also home with my son I have not been able to as much as looked at it. So I´m bringing it with me on this trip. Might be a bible...
A whole weekend with just pictures and photojournalism, YEEEY !

Hopefully I can publish some pics or funny things from the awards. Stay tuned!

We had a great time at the party, so now I must hit the sack...I tell you more about the party later.

Here´s the slideshow.

Eurovision Song Contest

Charlotte Perrelli on stage at the Telenor Arena in Karlskrona, Sweden.

Cookies and Coke, sweaty clothes...
It´s rehearsel repitition(is that really the right word?) in Karlskrona now. Tonight it´s time for the real show. I´m allready tired, but I will shape up for tonights show.
Here´s a little slideshow from the rehearsel. See it here.
